Naked 2 Vs Naked 3

I remember the research and thought that I went in to before purchasing my first Naked Pallete almost 4 years ago now. I didn't know which pallets to go for and decided between them for weeks! At this point, Naked 3 wasn't available so my decision fluctuated between the first and the second pallete.

Eventually I decided upon the second, I felt it had more colours I could work with opposed to the first.

The reason i'm writing this post is because I wanted to help anyone out there living the painful decision I had when buying my first Naked Pallete. I do not own the first Pallete, as for some reason, the colours involved do not appeal to me, I find them very similar to the second Pallete and have never had that urge to buy it.

As you can see from the photo, Naked 2 has definitely had it fair turn of use, with the colours of YDK and Tease hitting pan. The reason for this is because I have had this 3 years longer than then Naked 3 and also for a brief period of time, Tease is the shade I would use for filling in my eyebrows!

The two Palletes are so different. I use them both religiously but for many different things. I find that Naked 2 isn't the best Pallete for casual, everyday eyes and I find it difficult to work with for creating looks toned down for college and work. Whereas, Naked 3 is perfect for that everyday simple look whether it be matte or shimmer. Due to myself having green eyes, I find that the pinks work really well to bring out this feature! However, If i was dressing up and going out, I would reach for the second Pallete over the third as this Pallete is just perfect for creating Smokey Eyes and that's what I usually aim for when going out!

However, I do find that it is also easy to incorporate the 3rd Pallete into a more formal look, creating a Smokey eye using one of the pinky shades a lid shade and using the darker shades for blending.

Overall, If i was in the position I was in 4 years ago and had to choose one of the Urban Decay Naked Palletes. My decision would be the Naked 3, as i find it the most versatile to work with. So if you're looking for a versatile high pigemntated Pallete that you can wear everyday as well as spicing up for a night on the town, this is the one for you! But if you're looking for a Pallete aimed at Smokey eyes and want something with a little more edge to it, i would recommend the Naked 2!

What are your favourite Go to Palletes?

  2. I totally agree with you! I have both palettes and the Naked 3 is for sure my favorite! I used it all the time and then I got the Tarte Tartelette palette. It's the only one I have used the last few months. You should look into it! :)

  5. Ooh, definitely a useful post to take a look at. I've been so tempted to treat myself to a Naked palette but just haven't known which one to go for! I like how you've said which are better for more everyday looks and which are better for going out :). Luckily I have hazel green eyes too, so this helps even more.
